Portugal crowned “Economy of the Year 2025” by The Economist
15 December 2025

Portugal is establishing itself as a pillar of stability and growth in Europe. This recognition was made official by the renowned economic magazine The Economist, which named the country “Economy of the Year 2025,” ranking it first among 36 wealthy nations.
The keys to Portugal’s economic success (The Economist 2025)
- Solid growth: Portugal has managed to combine robust GDP growth (+2.4% in Q3 2025) with controlled inflation.
- A bullish stock market: The stock market recorded a strong increase (+20.9% in share prices).
- Contribution of key drivers: This success is largely attributed to the boom in tourism and the influx of wealthy foreigners (residents and investors), which is fueling demand in the real estate, services, and financial sectors.
The Dynamism of Lisbon’s South Bank
This national momentum is clearly visible on the ground, particularly in the Lisbon metropolitan area and especially on the south bank.
It is within this context of expansion and opportunity that phase 2 of the Nooba project has been officially launched, with the opening of sales for 70 new units in Nooba Vista, the third building of the development, located in Barreiro on the south bank of the Tagus River.
This real estate project, built around a “slow living” concept with large green spaces and leisure facilities (swimming pools, running track, etc.), offers exceptional connectivity to central Lisbon, just twenty minutes away by ferry. Located in a city undergoing major transformation, Nooba represents a strategic investment opportunity, with prices up to 50% lower than those of an equivalent project in Lisbon.
The launch of Nooba Vista in September therefore aligns perfectly with the wave of prosperity highlighted by The Economist, offering future residents the chance to settle in one of the most promising areas around the Portuguese capital.
