Azul Tasso - Imobiliária SA is currently building a residential and retail mixed use project on urban plot in central Lisbon, with the Praça Marquês de Pombal at the doorstep. The property is served by excellent road access, especially from the Praça Marquês de Pombal where one finds links to the various Lisbon way-outs, such as the 25 de Abril Bridge, to the south bank of the Tagus by the motorway A2, Lisbon-Cascais motorway (A5), A8 motorway, the IC19 to Sintra and Lisbon North-South road axis.
The building located on Rua Actor Tasso, nºs 3 to 11, offers a total of 8 Apartments (2 of them in duplex) plus a commercial ground-floor and two basement levels for parking, the units are nearly sold out with only one duplex apartment available.
The architecture project was developed in cooperation with NOMOS a leading Swiss architecture office. Construction works started in late 2017, with completion scheduled for the second half of 2019.
This small apartment building is set in a heterogeneous and centrally located street, the neighboring building is a listed architecture award winner from mid 80's originally built as a bank headquarters. The height of that building sets the maximal facade height of surrounding buildings.
The building is considerably more compact than its neighbors. The facade steps back at the top floor, providing for 2 duplex apartments with private roof-top terraces.
Although the building makes a monolithic impression, the numerous cut-out loggias make it open and inviting, and provide a gentle transition between the noisy city and the private realm. The simple and rigorous detailing is balanced by the use of bricks in the cladding.
The interiors are set to be the antipodes to the hustle and bustle of the city. Open space and spacious one-bedroom apartment with surfaces ranging from 67 to 85 m² are placed on the first 3 floors, with two larger duplexes above. Interior finishing favors the use of traditional materials, ceramics, wood and natural stone are combined in a sober palette. Built-in furniture in TOLA wood forms a central core concealing the sliding floor-to-ceiling doors, thus leading to a fluid space surrounded by continuous whitewashed walls. All apartments are wheelchair accessible (as imposed by the Portuguese code), and the option to unite the adjoining duplex units was anticipated by the architects.
